"GOE BEZIG" ART EXPO
Inspired by an essay Ann Bevers once wrote when she studied marketing, she and her boyfriend Laurenz Coninx decided to create a platform and organize expositions to promote the artists they believe are doing a nice job. Partners in art, they aim to give these artists the opportunity to exhibit the great work they’ve created so far and give them that little pat on the shoulder confirming that they’re actually doing very well. “Goe bezig!” as they would say here in Antwerp.
The first edition will showcase the works of the following artists:
Ann Bevers, curator and painter, has been passionate about colors and esthetics ever since she was a kiddo. After having worked as a color and style consultant for over 10 years, she decided to change paths and explore her inner self through art. With the act of painting being her expression of emotions and a form of meditation, she soul-paints this newfound path through the interiors of art lovers.
Laurenz Coninx, curator and painter, studied visual arts at Sint-Lukas in Brussels. When he graduated he took a little break from art focusing on skateboarding and travelling the world. However, at his mid-20’s he decided to reunite with his artistic self and started drawing and painting again. Black-white portraits and realistic atmospheric images with a dash of color, capturing his most memorable moments on a canvas.
Johan Bosmans, graphic designer and painter, was meant for greater artistic things. And so it came to pass, the kindergarten teacher’s prediction came true. His passion for illustrative art is expressed through different projects going from paintings to artistic collages. At “Goe Bezig” he’ll be exposing paintings he once made during a 30-day trip through Texas where he travelled back to the roots of his being and passion, which is drawing and painting.
Michael van Eemeren, carpenter and furniture maker until his ideas became more important than those of his employer and decided to start his own studio. Wandering between art deco and artistic chaos, he’s currently in search of his own trademark.
Sezen Ornek, photographer, has been taking photo’s ever since she got her first camera for her 12th birthday. She finds inspiration in everything she passes, from the way he flattens the folds in her dress with his hands to the sandwiches that are left untouched on the table. Receiving great joy from capturing the flow of the city life, it only seemed obvious that she’d study photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Evelien Boden is not really a painter, but she loves to paint. With a critical attitude towards the art world and everyday life, she shamelessly writes and paints down her thoughts in a portfolio she describes as a work in progress. Her archive of thoughts and images is enormous, thus only making it possible to show a slight fragment of her creative mind.
