ALEC SOTH - GATHERED LEAVES
The work of the renowned Magnum photographer, for the first time in Belgium. This retrospective draws from four critical series from his oeuvre: Sleeping by the Mississippi (2004), Niagara (2006), Broken Manual (2010) and Songbook (2014). Soth is known for his lyrical approach to documentary photography. His work is based on a fascination with the vastness of America.
PHOTOGRAPHY & RESISTANCE
For seven months, the Braakland (Fallow Fields) project transformed the top floor of FOMU into an experimental workspace for photography. With exhibits, talks, debates, collabs and so much more, Braakland is a celebration of the diversity of photography.
This spring, Braakland hosts an exhibit which introduces the contemporary Spanish scene. Despite a lack of financial means, this new generation of Spanish photographers proves to be remarkably innovative in finding ways the breathe life into their ideas and projects. Seven photographers: Julián Barón, Ricardo Cases, Jon Cazenave, David Hornillos, Jesús Monterde, Óscar Monzón and Antonio Xoubanova.
